Please take special care with regards people on horses by slowing down and giving them as much space as possible for their saftey as well as yours.

There are ample toilets at the School so please no urinating in public

PARKING

There is no parking for riders at the HQ, but there is plenty of parking only five minutes away in the local car parks. As far as we know there is free parking on Sundays at the Following Car Parks, The Martlets Place Shopping Centre MAP The car park next to Mc Donalds Car Park MAP Please check that your car is parked legally as we can't be resonsible for cars parked illegally. Have consideration for Local citizens and use the free car parks rather than parking outstde of peoples homes.

THE TRAIN

Please check that there is a service for trains to Burgess Hill on the Sunday before attempting to travel by train with your bike. Although many entrants have in the past come by train from places like London to ride in our events there are the usual train track maintenance proceedures carried out on Sundays. This can lead to passengers having to use the bus for some or all of their journey. This might prove to be a non starter if your lugging your bike around wtth you.

YOUR BIKE and tools

It is a good idea to check your bike a few days before the event to give yourself time to repair anything should you find something broken or not working properly. There is nothing worse than traveling to an event to find that your bike isn't working properly.

Check your tyres, for wear and go over your bike tightening up everything . New tyres are always a good idea when your doing a sportive.

Also be aware that it is getting close to the end of the season and that narrow 10 speed chain on your bike might well need changing along with the sprockets.

On many events we have lots of people breaking chains not because their power output is so high that their chains couldn't take the strain but because the chains were stretched and should have been replace a long time ago. If you not sure if your chain needs replacing take your bike down to a good bike shop they should be able to give you advice. Click here

DON'T FORGET TO BRING A TOOL BAG which fits on your bike to the cyclosportive. Make sure your tool bag has at least three inner tubes, tyre levers, a chain link extractor and spare fixing link. A multi tool which has all the allen keys sizes that your bike needs is also essential.  Although there is a broom wagon you maybe waiting a long time for it.

If you have room in the bag a pucnture repair kt might also be an option.

Check out this great video by Quick Release TV

Note although you may well get away with one inner tube you are advised to carry more than one inner tube for this cyclosportive. Those with Garmins etc make sure you charge your computer up the day before, don't be tempted to charge it over night only to find that it hasn't charge properly :-(
