TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

 

GENERAL

This cyclosportive will be starting and finishing in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.

The event will be held under British Cycling Cyclosportive Regulations. To participate in the event, riders must agree to abide by British Cycling Terms and Conditions of Entry for Non-Competitive Events.

Copies of the regulations will be posted at the signing on station.

No parking is available in the grounds of  Cyprus Hall  but there are car parks in Burgess Hill Town Centre adjacent to The Market Place and The Martlets Shopping Centres and can be accessed via Station Road and Civic Way. These are within easy walking distance of the Event HQ and are free of charge on Sunday. There is also parking available behind the HQ, see the Entry Pack for details.

 

SIGNING ON

Signing on will be in the main hall between 08.30 and 9.00. Confirmation of start times will be listed on the website one week before the event. A form of photo-identification will be required in order to receive your Entry Pack. Entries are not transferable between riders.

START TIMES

Riders will be started in groups of 20 every 2min, the first group will leave at 8.30am ROUTES Route maps are available to view on the appropriate web-site pages. For each event: * Routes will be clearly indicated. * Marshals will be stationed at specific junctions. They are there for a reason, please follow their instructions. * Route cards will be provided in the Event Pack. It is your responsibility to navigate the correct route. * Each route consists of road of varying widths and gradients with some sharp bends. * It is your responsibility to ensure that you ride within your capabilities and maintain your own and others safety.

RIDER SAFETY

The following points are additional to the British Cycling Cyclosport Regulations: Riders must proceed in accordance with the Highway Code; not more than two abreast, and extend all reasonable courtesy to other road users. Anyone deemed to be riding in an unsafe manner by event officials will be withdrawn from the event and the British Cycling Federation (BCF) notified Riders observed to be in breach of Road Traffic Regulations will be reported to the Local Police Authority. Wearing of Hard Shell Helmets, Riders must wear a helmet which conforms to CE standard EN 1078, is compulsory.

NO HELMET – NO RIDE!

An emergency contact number will be provided in the Event Pack. A broom wagon will follow each event. Should you experience mechanical breakdown or do not feel able to continue, you and your bike will be returned to the HQ Burgess Hill. For The both Reliablity rides a 12mph cut-off applies unless another speed is listed for the course.

FACILITIES * Changing rooms are not available. Mechanics will be available on route* Post event food will be supplied.

. TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR NON-COMPETITIVE EVENTS

1. Participants will be responsible for the roadworthiness and safe working order of their own cycle. If the event is to be held in poor or little light, then front and rear lights must be used and must have adequate battery life for the duration of the event. 2. The use of triathlon handlebars or other bar extensions is discouraged in Everyday Cycling events for safety reasons. However, where riders do have them fitted they must not be used when riding in a group and riders must allow for a gap to the rider(s) in front that allows time to reach for their breaks if necessary. 3. No accompanying vehicles are allowed to follow riders. Any participant failing to observe this regulation will be withdrawn from the event. 4. I understand and accept that this event is not a race or trial of speed, but a personal challenge and as such there will be no list published which sorts riders either in finishing time or finishing position order. An alphabetical list of finishers and times will be published. 5. I accept and understand that where the event takes place on the open road I must abide by the Highway Code at all times. I am aware that when riding on a public highway the function of marshals is only to indicate direction and that I must decide whether the movement is safe. 6. The wearing of Hard Shell Style Helmets shall be compulsory for riders under the age of eighteen. Riders over eighteen are encouraged to do the same. In of road events the wearing of helmets conforming to British Cycling regulations is mandatory. 7. All participants under the age of eighteen shall have had a consent form completed by their parent/guardian. A parent or guardian must accompany riders under the age of sixteen. 8. I understand and agree that I participate in this event entirely at my own risk, that I must rely on my own ability in dealing with all hazards, and that I must ride in a manner which is safe to myself and others. 9. I accept that if I do not abide by these terms and conditions that the organisers will make all reasonable efforts to remove me from the event, and that British Cycling will us all effort to restrict participation in future British Cycling competitive and non-competitive events. 10. I agree to abide by the British Cycling regulations that are relevant to Non-Competitive Cycling events. 11. I agree that no liability whatsoever shall attach to the promoter, promoting club/organisation, event sponsor, British Cycling or any event official or member of British Cycling or member of the promoting club /organisation in respect of any injury, loss or damage suffered by me in or by reason of the event, unless such injury, loss or damage is proven to be caused by the negligence of the aforementioned. Note once you have entered there can be no refund on your entry. Entries are non-transferable. please don't ask. You Will be required to sign that you agree with the regulations on the day of the event.
